Charmed I'm Sure

Hôtel le Royal is a charming boutique hotel that has it all – location, elegance, and hospitality. It’s beautifully set within the 14th arrondissement, on a wide tree-lined street. Found on the left bank, this hotel is central to several metro lines and a short walk to Port Royal RER station -- a convenient way to access Charles de Gaulle Airport, roughly an hour train-ride away.

Nearby: Noteworthy sites are easily accessible via foot, metro, or taxi, with the closest being Jardin du Luxembourg, 7 minutes away. Continuing on, you’ll hit Musée de Cluny, the Sorbonne, and the Latin Quarter before arriving at Notre Dame. Veering in the other direction is the Rodin Museum and Musée d'Orsay; each are roughly 30-minutes from the hotel. Keep going, and you hit the Louvre! Hop on the Metro at Raspail to visit the Eiffel Tower, or venture up to artsy Montmartre from the nearby Notre-Dame des Champs Metro entrance. Traversing the Seine at night is also a must!

Food: Around the corner, La Table des Copains offers a contemporary twist on French cuisine. For a more traditional option, be sure to make a reservation at Le Petit Sommelier for their specialty: Boeuf Bourguignon. While the hotel has a good breakfast option, La boulangerie du Dôme is just around the corner for a quick morning pastry, and Le Charivari is a convenient neighborhood joint with a good burger and cozy atmosphere. Trendy Café de Flore is a 25-minute walk away – a must-do before exploring the right bank via Pont des Arts.

Hotel: The concierge goes the extra mile for guests around the clock. Besides the fitness area, game room, and comfortable common area, at the end of a long day, a hot bath might be the best perk of all. Grab a glass of wine on your way up from the lobby, choosing from a few options on tap for a small fee. If business is central to your trip, ask about reserving the designated meeting room with additional technical equipment.

This location is truly a win-win, suiting the bleisure traveler who’s looking for approachable Parisian elegance with tasteful amenities.

KATIE’S MUSTS:

-Reserve museum tickets in advance. Check out the Museum Pass to find an option that suits your needs.

-Journey slightly out of the city to Giverny for the floral sights and smells of Monet’s home and garden. The water lily landscape is famously depicted in his paintings from 1914-1926.

-Learn some basic French phrases and customs. Make an effort to learn some key phrases and use a quieter voice, especially in restaurants and shops. Respecting the local culture is key in France.
