Nestled amidst cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, Sollano 34 is a boutique luxury property comprised of bespoke individual apartments and a stunning rooftop. The ornate design and quiet atmosphere are beautifully contained in the heart of hilly San Miguel de Allende.
Each room feels unique and can suit the needs of couples or a couple of friends. The attention to detail is impeccable, and thoughtful amenities from a beautiful kitchen to various patio spaces throughout the property offer all you could need to relax in grandeur. Checking emails feels like less of a chore when enjoying your morning coffee or sipping on that afternoon margarita among the trickling fountains, or while cozying up to your private fireplace in winter.
Restaurants nearby range from high-end to low-key, fitting pretty much any budget or vibe. You can splurge on The Restaurant, just steps away from Sollano 34. It offers that high-end experience, for affordable prices, enclosed in a stunning courtyard patio. Firenze is equally delicious, with a less touristy, darker ambiance. Go hungry as portions are large.
Cumpanio is another noteworthy spot — beautiful and local. For a breezy rooftop patio with good guac and drinks, check out El Pegaso, and bring back an extra portion to enjoy on Sollano 34’s expansive rooftop patio. The view is amazing, and you may even make friends with other guests. For delicious local coffee and bites, visit Lavanda Cafe where, you guessed it, lavender is infused into drinks and even garnishes the French toast! Avoid peak times to find a small table, or be ready to wait out the door.
You have your pick of relaxing things to do: visit the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel church, walk to the Fabric Museum, step into the various galleries, or discover a handmade piece of clothing at local boutiques. Parque Benito Juarez is a beautiful green area to explore, just down the road. Artsy San Miguel is slow, quaint, and colorful — where the architecture and jacaranda trees demand you stop to take it all in, beginning with Sollano 34’s serene splendor.
KATIE'S MUSTS:
- Explore beyond the shops and main roads. It's very tempting to spend the day in the beautiful accommodations or visiting shops, but wandering through the park and getting out of the more touristy areas allows you to get an idea of real life and sample some nature.
- Bring back some snacks for the rooftop. While going out can be fun, Sollano 34 makes it so easy to grab some nibbles for a memorable sunset experience.
- Wander the town in the morning. Not only is it cooler and less congested, but there are "real life" moments to enjoy, along with the opportunity to discover shops and restaurants before a rush of people fill the streets. It's also a great way to scout future dinner or happy hour spots.
